I%26#039;ve hated my full name since I was a tiny child.
I%26#039;m a musician and artist and I feel like I was meant to have a unique name all my own, that sparkles.
The name %26quot;Sara Smith%26quot; is so excruciatingly plain... and I HATE it (I%26#039;m over 18). I dread being asked what my last name is. I literally cringe whenever someone pages me, and it makes my life miserable.
I have a couple reasons I want to change it.
I really LOVE Spanish culture and I have a Spanish ancestor... I%26#039;ve always identified with Latin stuff, and when I%26#039;m forced to use the hated surname of %26quot;Smith,%26quot; I feel like I%26#039;m being forced to deny my Spanish heritage.
Also, I just hate how the first and last name sound together.
Above all, I hate having a common full name. It%26#039;s annoying. People need to have a special sense of identity. Name is a big part of your identity, and my name is a tag that says, %26quot;Just another girl.%26quot; Sara Smith... how plain and generic can you get?? I can never cherish a name like that! I%26#039;m constantly being confused with some other Sara Smith, and I feel like I%26#039;m one of many. I want a unique name all my own. I%26#039;m not a plain, boring person; I don%26#039;t want a plain, boring name.
I don%26#039;t want anything outrageous, I just want a name that uniquely identifies me.|||The need for a legal name change may result from marriage, divorce, adoption or simply a desire to have another name.
