I am just wondering, because I am almost getting a name change and its kind of embarrassing if he has to call me my other name in front of a huge class. I had to be called that name throughout my entire school year, and didn't feel confident at all because a name is basically your identity, and I wasn't comfortable with it. Stupid asian names.
How do college professors take roll call?
The last time I went to university, we made up name sheets. Take a page, fold it on half lengthwise and write your name on it with a marker. Place it on your desk.
The prof then after getting to known the class a bit just took a look around the room.
In your case, why not just keep answering to your original name. Use your new one next semester. See the administration about a new student id.
How do college professors take roll call?
my teachers for the fist day called out names and than after the first week they had a roll sheet
After you change your name and after the registrar at the school has been told, go up to your professor and explain that you have changed your name from [whatever it was] to [whatever the new name is]. You don't have to explain why, or you can if you want. It shouldn't make any difference to him.
It's important to let the registrar know. The only problem that may come up is in the recording of grades. If at the end of the term he sees a new name on the grade sheet but hasn't been told about the change, he won't know to whom to credit your A or B (or C or F).
