How do you know your own identity?

I love writing because it is one way that I can write my own original ideas down and not have to listen to anyone argue it. My writing is my writing nobody can change that. People can write their own little suggestions down on my paper but that is their writing it is not my own. Nobody can unwrite what I have written. I struggle with the thought of having my own ideas. Sometimes I think my life writing is a whole bunch of jumbled up mess that is just quotes from everyone around me even if they contradict one another. Here lies my question and the purpose of this writing: What is my passion, my own original ideas coming in through my life? Sometimes I wonder if it is just that I am too scared to be my self and sometimes I wonder if I truly have my own identity or if I am simply a puzzle of everyone else around me?
How do you know your own identity?
I've wondered the same thing myself recently. But I've concluded that you can never really know who you are, because you're constantly changing and growing. So you shouldn't expect other people to understand you either, because you're different so much. Keep on writing though, you'll be happy to be able to look back.
How do you know your own identity?
your passion is expressing yourself through writing
you obviously havent turned 40 yet.

just my opinion of course.
I simply look in the mirror.
Introspection. A looking inside. Good at times, confusing if overdone.

At some period in your life, your mind created a boundary between “you” and “everything else” in the universe. People who spend most of their life looking for answers “outside” this boundary are usually called extroverts. People who spend most of their life looking for answers “inside” this boundary are usually called introverts.

Most humans accept perceptions and informational data unfiltered and then filter it as it is processed for long term storage in their memory. You are more than the jumble of the humans around you. You are the one that does this filtering.

Every human has a unique point of view. No two are exactly identical, even for twins. But the point of view is not a stagnant object. It changes with time. The words you have written do not. If you read what you have written, you view your own point of view of the past. It may or may not very similar to your point of view now.

If you use your writing to view yourself (as an introvert), you must remember that you have probably changed since the writing was done. In the meantime, write. Write as much as you want. Do not be upset if it does not make sense or seems self contradictory. The more you write the better you will get at writing.
Your passion is writing, you know your identity... but you seem obsessed about it. Try focusing your attention in what is around you and you may find the peace of mind you are looking for. Good luck!
I think we all borrow ideas here and there that in some way or form shape us. You seem pretty confident in what you believe and stand for so write your heart out. Lose all inhibitions and your creative self will be unleashed.
you r passion is that of mine, writing. i too lov e to express everything i feel through the wonderful words the english language has given us to use. you cannot only have one passion it takes a few passions to make one good passion come to be, or that is what i believe. for example i play the violin. i have the passion of music, but what is that? well i like the sounds of different kinds of music, all kinds. i love to learn new things. i like to challenge myself to do new and exciting things. i like meeting new people eventhough it can be hard for me sometimes! but because i have all of those passions it makes me play the violin evenbetter! (did that make any sense at all to you? well anyway!) because you enjoy your own original ideas, and all of the things that you write about you are ment to be a writer! and i am the same way in writing! i love reading! i enjoy writing stories! i enjoy making up stories to tell my cousins! etc so all of those things helps me become a better writer!and we are all part of a master puzzle where each of us are a puzzle piece that will never know where to go until later on! hope this helped you! have a happy day! (email me some of your stuff i would love to read it! I'll email some of mine of you want me to!) : )
